Why is silicon so special as a semiconductor?

Image
Silicon  is  used  for electronic devices for the reason that it is an element with a number of exceptional properties. One of its most significant properties is that it is a  semiconductor . This means that it is a good conductor of electricity under some circumstances and acts as an insulator under certain under circumstances. Silicon is available very abundantly at a very less price as compared to any other semiconductor.    Why silicon is used more over germanium? At room temperature, a s ilicon  crystal has less number of free electrons  than a Germanium  crystal. On the other hand,  Silicon  crystals are not straightforwardly spoiled by surplus heat. The Peak Inverse Voltage scores of  Silicon  diodes are  more than Germanium  diodes.  Si  is less affluent due to the  greater  availability of the element. Quick facts about silicon? ·     ...
